Butter Toffee Pretzels
Source: Heather
Addictively delicious! Make the full batch and watch these buttery, crunchy, sweet & salty treats disappear.
Ingredients
10 cups mini pretzel twists (16 oz. bag)
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 c butter
1/4 c light corn syrup
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 bag Heath toffee bits (chocolate coated or plain toffee)
(found on food.com)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Lightly grease a large roasting pan with cooking spray (use a disposable one for easy clean up!). Add the pretzels to the pan & set aside.
In a medium saucepan, add brown sugar, butter, & corn syrup. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat & whisk in vanilla and baking soda. Warning - this causes violent bubbling - which is normal.
Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the pretzels; sprinkle half the bag of toffee bits over the pretzels, too. Toss the pretzels to coat evenly.
Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure the toffee evenly coats the pretzels.
Spread pretzels on wax paper-lined counter & sprinkle the remaining toffee bits. Cool to ensure the coating sets and hardens ~ about 1 hour. Then break into small clusters & package.
Enjoy!!
