Lab Week

Celebrate your biotech tenants and recognize Lab Week (technically Medical Laboratory Professionals Week)! This can also be broadened to a tenant appreciation event if your campus is more mixed in the types of businesses and staff present. Lab Week is usually the 3rd or 4th week of April, but the weather is improving, and everyone wants to be outside-so pick a week and celebrate!!

Just the Basics

Here are a few easy suggestions for planning your Lab Week event to get you started:
  • Create Photo Ops. If this is for Lab professionals, find appropriate backdrop & props to say thank you. If a general tenant appreciation, go more generic to appeal to more employees. Encourage social media posts and encourage prize or token gift for those who post to your chosen site.
  • Set up yard games. If you have space, bring out the cornhole or purchase some basic yard games to further lighten the mode. See the things to buy list for ideas or develop your own “pin the safety glasses on the scientist” backdrop!
  • Schedule a Food Truck to serve lunch. If your budget allows, provide free food or discounts. This can be tied to anyone in costume, and then you coordinate with the food truck vendor at the end of the day to pay out anything they’ve awarded. If budget doesn’t allow for rewards, the tenants will still appreciate being able to buy their own lunch while having fun on-site.
    • We can help you determine a budget based on activities at your other events if needed. Most trucks will work on a maximum so you can give them your budget number and they’ll stop serving free food once that’s reached.
    • Food Truck Discount Examples: Most food trucks will work with you to create a package to meet your budget. Ideas for how you might incorporate free tenant food include giving the first 20 people in costume free lunch, paying for the first $500 spent at the truck, or paying for an appetizer for anyone in costume up to $250.
