🍧 Mexican Popsicles🍦
LocoPops has a rich history, rooted in the authentic Mexican-style popsicles, known as paletas. The founder, Summer Bicknell, was so inspired by the flavors and traditions of Tlazazalca, Mexico, that she brought this delightful experience to Durham, North Carolina. Since its opening in 2005, LocoPops has been a sensation, offering a unique and refreshing take on frozen treats. 🍧
The name "LocoPops" is as quirky and vibrant as the flavors they offer. It’s a nod to the wild and ‘loco’ idea of bringing something so distinct and full of flavor to the local community. Every pop is a burst of creativity, a blend of tradition and innovation, offering a taste experience that is both nostalgic and exciting. 😋 🌟
"Everything is delicious! We love the amazingly inventive flavors. Cucumber Chile!? Lemon curd?! Hibiscus!? The cucumber Chile pops are the best!" - Facebook Review 🥒 🌶️ 🍋
Every review, every smile, and every refreshed customer is a testament to the ‘loco’ journey that started with a simple, yet bold idea. LocoPops isn’t just about frozen pops; it’s about a community brought together by the love for something refreshingly different, yet strangely familiar. It’s a celebration of flavors, a dance of tastes, and most importantly, it’s about enjoying the simple pleasures of life, one pop at a time. 🎉 ❤️
🍧 From The Truck
LocoPops is best known for where we began: our pops! In 2004, LocoPops founder and owner Summer Bicknell traveled to Tlazazalca, Mexico to learn how to make Mexican-style popsicles, known as paletas. When considering where to open her own business, a fortuitous stop for gas on a road trip brought her to Durham, North Carolina. Durham felt like home from the start and LocoPops opened Memorial Day weekend in 2005.
The name, LocoPops, was inspired by what her parents thought of her plans: they thought she'd lost her mind, or 'gone loco'!
